CHEM 51LB Organic Chemistry Laboratory (Credit Units: 2) Modern techniques of organic chemistry, using selected experiments to illustrate topics introduced in CHEM 51A-B-C. Corequisite: CHEM 51B. Prerequisite: CHEM 51A and CHEM 1LD. CHEM 51A with a grade of C- or better. CHEM 1LD with a grade of C- or better. . Majors in Schools of Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, and Engineering, and majors in Nursing Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Public Health Sciences, and Undecided/Undeclared students have first consideration for enrollment. Only one course from CHEM H52LA, CHEM M52LA, and CHEM 51LB. Only one course from CHEM 51LB, CHEM H52LA may be taken for credit. (Design units: 0)

A calendar of experiments is posted on the class website under the Documents section and on the class Google calendar. Documents containing specific details of each experiment will be posted under the Experiments sections as the quarter proceeds. ALL PRELAB WORK, INCLUDING ONLINE SAPLING LEARNING ASSIGNMENTS, MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE YOUR LAB SECTION. Students without a completed pre-lab will not be allowed to conduct the experiment and receive a zero grade for the pre-lab, in-lab work and written discussion scores for the experiment.
