1. Understand important molecular interactions in biology

2. Understand bioenergetics especially thermodynamics in biological systems

3. Analyze molecular architecture of living matter (nucleic acids, amino acids, carbohydrates and lipids)

4. Understand self-assembly concepts in biological systems

5. Apply self-assembly concepts in Nature to the design of novel biomaterials
